The Grassroots of Tarboro (http://gotarboro.com) is looking for musicians from all genres to play at our Tarboro Second Saturdays (street fair/music festival) on the second Saturday of each month. We are a non-profit organization formed by the citizens of Tarboro, NC, with the purpose of revitalizing our beautiful historic town. We have a very attractive setting with a stage on the Town Square, and space to sell your wares. The Main Street Cafe, which regrettably does not have space for entertainment at this time, will provide you with a free meal and drinks. We are operating solely on contributions from local businesses and citizens, so we cannot offer monetary compensation. ..however, we will offer free exposure for you in a festival atmosphere, and promotion in several newspapers, radio, flyers, web and email marketing, MySpace, and word-of-mouth. Looking to start a band
Too young to die, but still young enough to rock n roll? 47yr old mediocre guitar player seeking other rockers who want to put a band together "one last time". Have a drum set, bass, keys, guitars and amps gathering dust because you had to "grow up", "get a real job", spend time being a dad (or a mom)? Do you think Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Mick and Keith and the lads, Bowie, Pete and Moonie are gods (among many others)? Do new acts like My Chemical Romance and Green Day (ok not so new) still get the old blood pumping? Have you ever read Ginsbergs "Howl", or On the Road? Do you understand that Cream is classic rock but Night Ranger is not? Looking for people in my same general age range, who are politically liberal, who think a lot about life, who maybe were in bands in high school and college but had to put it aside for the "real world". People who still have rock n roll in their hearts. Looking to prove to myself that rock n roll is not just a young man's (woman's) game. Being able to connect to other band members is very important to me at this stage in my life, so I'm looking for intelligent, real people. Established Chick Singer seeks bass player
ESTALISHED CHICK SINGER.... Strong, well-established female blues, R&B, bluesy rock, folk & jazz singer is forming a new band to perform original music and some select covers: some acoustic, some electric. I currently have an opening for a bass player (preferably electric and acoustic). I regularly book paying gigs in the greater Triangle area. Please provide examples of your work, and describe your experience playing with other bands. My band gigs regularly in the area; will record and perform a variety of music, and will require a range of skills: aooustic & electric blues, rockin', jump, swing, folksy/root-based (Think: Aretha Franklin, Ruthie Foster, Mavis Staples, Irma Thomas, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, for musical flavor), at Triangle/Triad area clubs, festivals, band competitions, private events, & dance gigs, so versatility is a must. May involve out of town gigs from time to time. Gigs could range from 2-6 gigs per month, however, some of the gigs will involve a smaller subset of the larger band. This will be a working band. You should be mature, experienced with performance bands, seasoned, creative, versatile, collaborative, reliable, and prepared to do the work to deliver a polished sound. If you have a good backup voice, even better, but it's not a prerequisite. **Please only reply if you're serious and going to be able to do the work to hone a first class sound! People will be paying good money to hear us play, and mediocrity will not be an option.
